Removes overscan data left behind on a camera.
Options
There are two ways to run it:
- Utilities menu > Remove OverScan Data from Selected Camera – select one or more cameras in the scene and run it. Target objects and non camera objects in the selection are ignored.
- Camera pmodifier > Remove OverScan Data – acts on the camera assigned to that pmodifier, so you do not have to find and select it first.
How It Works
When a pass renders with overscan, renderStacks changes the camera FOV or focal length and stores the original value on the camera so it can put it back afterwards. That data is normally removed as soon as the render finishes.
If a render is cancelled, fails, or Max crashes, the data can be left behind – and the camera keeps the widened FOV. This utility finds that data, removes it, and restores the original value.
Afterwards you get a summary listing which cameras were cleaned and which had no overscan data on them.
Notes
- Safe to run on a camera that has no overscan data. It is reported as such and left untouched.
- If a camera looks wider than it should after an interrupted render, this is the fix.
